24/06/2016 v Eynsham

lost

First Game on Tour

A lot of rain had fallen during the day and when we got to the ground we were met with a team of "groundsman" trying to get the pitch playable. Apparently the pitch had been covered (there's posh!) but the rain was so heavy it flowed off the outfield and under the covers. Amazingly we did get underway and an early wicket for OD's allayed fears that we might be hopelessly outclassed. Playing in front of quite a crowd and a lovely new pavilion (the old one was burnt down) OD's bowled and fielded creditably but with no outstanding performances. 150 seemed a bit over par and it needed an heroic 82 from the skipper to get us anywhere near. The outfiled was still pretty wet and even some of Tim's booming shots didn't quite make it to the boudary edge, so Tim had to do a lot of running. He was exhausted at the end, but had played a fantastic knock, ably supported by Glen at the end.
