02/07/2016 v BELVEDERE

lost

Tough game at Belvedere

Sunday match was with Belvedere CC, Niraj & I have opened the bowling & both started well on target with 29/3 in 12 overs. The first change was Pankaj, who took 3 good wickets, we were told by Pete that they have one batsmen who scored 200+ runs in last match & was looking very confident again, 2P's (Pankaj & Peg) jointly claimed his wicket. Peg took 3 very good catches & his bowling figure was also impressive with 4/2 in 3 overs. Peter & Sam both were very good in wicket keeping & saved lots of runs. We bowled well, there were a lot of plays and misses, but we stuck at it, kept it tight and superb bowling attack helped to limit the Belvedere CC scoring & we got the target of 121 to win in 40 overs.

We thought, it was an easy score to chase & we underestimated the opposition. Clive & Pete started innings for us & we faltered early in response, losing Pete in the second over. Peg, who came in at No. 3, became the second victim when he was caught behind for 5. We were losing wickets at regular intervals & we were 36/5. I got plumbed in first ball, I was not expecting the first ball to come sharply in. Clive played a very good innings, he managed to hold his wicket till end & he was undefeated on 30. No-one supported Clive, Tim was the only other batsman who scored in double figures (10). It was a tough day's cricket, we stuck only 4 boundaries while batting and Clive obviously batted very well.
