31/07/2016 v CHISLEHURST

TIED

6th Tie in 55 years

Last Sunday saw us away to Chislehurst, things started off strong as the skipper won the toss and chose to field, Niraj Kumar and Peter Taplin opened the bowling, both kept the runs low with Pete getting himself 2 wickets, one of which with a catch made by the chest of Clive Stringer (not a technique I've seen before and I personally wouldn't choose to partake it in). Billy Merrall stepped up next, or should i say stumbled up, with his low coordinated drunk self he brought us six wickets along with Vishnu Sheri who caught and bowled (after dropping two earlier in the match). The innings were finished with a sublime catch out to the right by yours truly (couldn't help mentioning it, potentially catch of the season?), this left Chislehurst at 152 all out after 32 overs. Clive and Pete S opened the batting, some good batting performances from Clive and Pete T both coming in with 23 runs, and Tim McArdle who once again 'pulled' another 50 out of the bag. Coming close to what looked to be a win someone *cough* Pete *cough* gave us the kiss of death with a comment of "4 overs left even we can't blow this surely", then came a wicket, and another, and another, but an honourable mention to Joe who once again was not out (not out trophy contender?). This turn of events left us all out also for 152, you was wrong Pete, even we can blow it. But still an enjoyable day nevertheless! (Sam Rogerson)
