03/08/2008 v GRAVESEND RUGBY CLUB

LOST

Stuart Cooper bags a five for

Stuart bowled magnificently on a grassy pitch, causing some very good batsmen a lot of trouble. All five of his wickets were bowled, and all were fast swinging deliveries. The other bolwers struggled to contain the GRFC batsmen, but all in all ODWCC did well to restrict them to under 200. Rarities included a Pete Smith catch in the deep and a legside catch by keeper Stringer.

Skipper Coverly and Stringer C opened up against some fast bowling, but made good progress until Coverly was bowled for 17. Mcardle was in awful touch when he came to the wicket, but the opening bowlers were seen off, and then Tim helped himself to the spinner. He gradually played himself into form, but as the rain got heavier and heavier, it became more and more obvious that we were not going to make the runs required for victory.
